The best way to distribute heat is by installing ducts to your heater.
(figure 1)
- Attach a Metal Adapter to Your Heater
Secure a metal square to round adapter to the front of your heater to connect it to a duct system. - Install the Main Heating Duct
Use a metal duct that runs the full length of your tunnel—this will serve as your main heating line - Add Poly Tube Outlets
Insert tee connector along the metal duct, one for each pathway. - Lay Out the Poly Tubes
Run the poly tubes down the walkways of the tunnel. They should be the same length as your tunnel. - Perforate the Poly Tubes
Punch holes every 18 inches on both sides of each poly tube. Make sure the holes are horizontal so the warm air blows sideways along the crop base.
This will make your tunnel more uniform and easier to manage. Plus, it will prevent the front row from drying out by blowing hot air on the heads of the plants. (figure 2)
Not all heathers can be ducted. Be sure to get a heater with a blower, not a fan. (figure 3)
