Give 30% More Water During Heat Waves

We saw that energy production is what drives yield potential. Without water, plants stop energy production to survive. Avoid this by giving more water during heat waves.

Rule of thumb : when the temperature hits 95°F, give 30% more water.

Example

If you normally give 15 min/irrigation, give 20 min during heat waves.

⚠️ Caution

Heat waves don’t last forever!

If you are like me, when you increase your irrigation time, you won't remember to set it back.

Always set up an alarm for the next morning to verify whether the temperature is back to normal or not. Do this daily until the heat wave is over.

Remember, overwatering weakens your crop, splits your fruits, and promotes disease.
